I agree with the previous review......to a point. I think city Tap house brings something new to the area, but the beer or food are good' just not "must see's" in a city loaded with beer bars and amazing restaurants - especially when it comes to bar food. Tonight was a Philly beer wk night that featured California brewers ballast point, mission, and Coronado - there were probably 20-25 California guest taps ranging from imperial stouts to double ipas to scotch ales and everything in between ($4-$5 a glass), and I must say they were impressive and fun to be able to taste. The bar itself has 70 taps or so that cover every beer style you desire and more. The bartenders are still getting comfortable with the new place but they were ALL FRIENDLY and helpful so I think the place will be staffed I'll smart beer peeps very soon.......again, no complaints with service - friendly and motivated, just a little overwhelmed with all the guest taps. The kitchen seemed very much in order - we order 2 wood-fired pizza and try were great.I love a good beer bar with good pizza - besides iron hill in the suburbs there aren't many (besides smith on 19th maybe) places where u can smash craft beers and good pizza - city tap house is now on my short list. The venue has high ceilings, lots of bar and table seating, a modern design, lots of flat screen tvs, and an AWESOME outside balcony area with firepits and cool views of the 40th and walnut area.....it may sound stupid boasting about rooftop views in this area but it really is nice. Overall I really like city tap house and i think they are bringing something new and exciting to the city but they are probably a few wks away from really being an awesome bar. I can see this place getting uber-popular in the coming fall.god job!
PROS:Most Tap beer in city. Balcony seating with firepit lounge areas. Good food. Beautiful venue and decor

I just returned from Bells Brewery Night at City Tap Room with 30+ Bells beers + the ridiculous selection that city tap room boasts regularly. All I can say about this place is WOW. It feels like a modern, "normal" beer bar as opposed to the dark, dull places we have all know and love. The venue is beautiful, the balcony is amazing, and the beer selection is out of this world. Thank you City Tap Room for bringing something different to university city!
PROS:The beer choices are vast!
