This is truly a rare find for an Irish Pub in Boston. Matt Murphy's Pub is a nice little place located in Brookline Village. There is very decent Irish Pub style food at this restaurant daily.
Once 11pm hits however, this cozy little restaurant evolves into a really good place to go for entertainment on any night of the week. Each night of the week, there are various events that go from 11pm to 2am. This venue is home to a broad variety of excellent musicians in the Boston area.
The place is fairly small, so you may want to come a little early to grab a seat at one of the tables. This is a very laid back, fun place to go out and listen to some live music while you catch up with your buddies.
Furthermore, there is a nice beer selection as well as specialty drinks.

The two times I have been to Matt Murphy's Pub, I was taken with the attitude that encompases this place. The music was excellent, without overpowering ones ability to hold a conversation while they enjoy their evening here. The bartenders and patrons are an extremely friendly and polite group. This is not at all like the thousands of other Boston Bars located in and around the city. Murphy's is a true diamond in the rough that should be attended by anyone looking to go out and have a good time.
Something to note: This pub is a host to true musicians. Only very highly skilled artists perform here. Worth checking out.
