Comments 9.17 Add Comment Iron Hill has a great beer assortment that anyone who likes a hand crafted brew will enjoy. Tonight I had "Rudolph's Revenge" which was a hoppy, experimental holiday seasonal beer that was strong as hell but a great starter (9.5%ABV). Next I moved on to the "Abbaye Dubbel" Belgian which was a little less strong (7/5%ABV) and less hoppy, but darker with that classic fruity aftertaste that makes it a Belgian brew. Finally, I had (a couple actually) "Vienna Red Ale" which was as smooth as it was refreshing and I had to recommend that to any beer enthusiast out there. There were also a handful of porters, stouts, lagers, ales, and lite beers that were brewed on premise so all in all there were probably about 10 on tap. They were also all available to go in growlers that usually stay good for a day or two. The food was pretty good also and our bill was only 60 bucks for the two of us so I have no complaints. PROS: Great Beer, seasonal beer, quick service, reasonable prices, laid back environment.CONS: Annoying Media "BigShots" who talk to loud and are really bring nothing to the happy hour scene (I am really calling out a group there tonight, I think it is usually laid back with sophisticated peeople)1/23/2008 7:57:09 PM
Iron Hill is a laid back, open-air restaurant and brewpub with excellent seasonal tap beers to choose from. The winter beers have just made their way to the taps and me and my girl had a few that were interesting. The Maniac Alt Bier was sweet and unique but its got old quick. The Weizen Bock is a nice combination of ale and the classic Iron Hill weizen beers so its thick in appearance but light and fruity as it goes down (after taste is a little bitter). Finally, we had the Pumpkin Ale which really stood out as the best beer in the house. It tasted like pumpkin pie, spieces, and a good amount of hops that make it a really satisfying beer. The food was great, we just went with quesadillas and the tastiest cheesesteak eggrolls you will ever have! Overall the workers knew a lot about their beers as far as taste, appearance, and state and national accolades that different house brews have won over the years and I recommend Iron Hill to anyone who likes handcrafted beers, good food, or just a laid back environment to chill with friends. 10/18/2007 12:18:39 PM
Iron Hill is a great local franchised brewery. Their beer is tasty, fresh, and varies from dark stouts to light belgian wheat beers. The food is good...although I would recommend the burgers, nachos, and similar item instead of the seafood dished (im not a fan of their seafood). The place is airy with a lot of light coming through the multiple windows and the crowd is the after-work type. The real reason to come is to drink awesome beers and always try their seasonals. This summer Ive been really enjoying The Wheat Beers, IPA, Lager, and Belgian Wit..my girl loves the Berlinerweissen....summer hefeweissen is light and refreshing also. 9/5/2007 7:08:57 PM
